Heatherwood Luxury Condominium
Brooklyn, New York
Luxury rental developer Heatherwood, based in Commack, New York, built an 8-story luxury condominium having a 150,000 square-foot gloss floor area. The project site is on a wedge-shaped corner lot bordered by Eckford Street, Newtown Street, and Manhattan Avenue. The 70-foot-tall structure would hold 135 apartments with a lobby, amenities and parking space on the first floor.
As a consultant to the owner and the general contractor, John Petrocelli Contracting Inc. headquartered in Ronkonkoma, NY, Amerigeo, Inc. (AGI) provided geotechnical and foundation engineering services for the project. As part of the responsibilities, AGI provided support of excavation design, engineering support and consultation, and inspection services during the constructions of excavation support system and deep foundations. The support of excavation consists of solider piles with wood laggings on support of rakers/corner braces. The foundations consist of driven timber piles and drilled mini pile. As a part of the project Quality Assurance, pile integrity testing was performed using pile driving analyzer (PDA) to monitor the integrities and capacities of the index timber piles. The axial capacities of the drilled mini-piles were verified using static pile load tests in accordance with the NYC Building Codes.
